Zoë Dillon’s practice is concerned with the innate human habit of collecting.
This body of work investigates the fundamental human compulsion to gather and hold on to things and considers how acts of accumulation construct personal and cultural narratives and become vessels for memory and meaning. Paintings and drawings examine how these objects may bear witness to our lives, personal and familial histories and become fragments in forming current and historical identities. She explores the tension between official collecting and archiving and the more instinctive forms of gathering that shape everyday life which sometimes may be banal, excessive or frivolous.
